The wait is finally over.  Over a year in development, the Governmental Agency Process Streamlining (GAPSTM) program is a simple, straight forward approach that results in greatly improved processes for public sector agencies.

Through GAPStm, your agency can:

  • Work collaboratively to define and implement improvement opportunities
  • Move beyond accountability to process improvement
  • Reach consensus on objective criteria of what process waste looks like to avoid subjective bickering about what needs to improve
  • Through its actions, clearly communicate how the agency values its people by providing a structured path of:
    • Soliciting improvement ideas for a particular process.
    • Objectively assessing the impact of the idea on the process.
    • Acting on the idea to make it a reality.
  • Gain the knowledge to keep the program expanding using internal resources  (through Train-the-Trainer classes and licensing of course materials) to avoid the continuing need for outside trainers and consultants.
  • Assess the value of GAPSTM as it relates to your particular agency with a low investment of both time and capital.

Based on the proven "lean" concepts as successfully applied for years by many of the world's best-run companies, GAPStm is specifically adapted to address the challenges faced by public sector agencies.  Improvements are made in bite-sized pieces-one process at a time. The program is designed to transfer knowledge to agency personnel so there is no long term reliance on outside trainers and consultants to keep the program progressing.

But it gets even better. These improvements originate from those directly responsible for actually providing the service.  Not from someone far removed who understands how the process works "in theory".  Not based on the unsustainable recommendations of some outside "expert". The enthusiasm evident from implementing improved processes that originate from and are endorsed by those actually performing them on a day to day basis must be seen to be believed.

The first step is to better understand the philosophy, tools, and techniques that are the GAPStm program and how they would apply to your agency.  This is referred to as GAPS 101. Complete with a hands-on simulation of a permitting agency, we offer several ongoing opportunities to take this informative and enjoyable course.  Upcoming day long public GAPS 101 seminars will be listed on this page. Simply select a convenient date and register for GAPS 101 on this site. Or, if no open classes are currently available, make your request known, and we will establish a date. Another option is to bring the GAPStm Principles seminar to your location. Allowing up to 15 participants, this economical choice eliminates any transportation and/or lodging issues.

Please explore this site and many of your questions will be answered.  Whether you are setting the strategic direction of an agency, a public sector employee, or a citizen concerned with the performance of tax payer-financed services, there is a role that each person can play in making GAPStm the gold standard of effective improvement activities within public sector agencies.

Before you leave the site, make sure that you sign up for "The Closer"- the official GAPS newsletter (on the left side of this page) so you can stay abreast of the latest process improvement information as it relates to public sector agencies.  This free resource consists of informative, educational articles on the application of GAPS delivered directly to your inbox. Armed with this knowledge, you'll begin to formulate a  vision of what GAPS can do for your own organization.

Through the link on this page, you may also want to listen to the principal developer of the GAPStm Program. He's seen this stuff work and he's not afraid to share his excitement about this program. Please feel free to contact us if you have any unanswered questions. We'd love to hear from you.
